Dont lend it out

I've flat out refused to lend my knives to many people including my boss.it wasn't personal or anything I just don't trust anybody.Except my Dad,Mom and God.If God breaks my blade I'd better get one really sweet replacement.:D :p

There's an old saying amongst Argentinian Gauchos and Indians: "Never lend your knife, your horse or your woman to any man." .

There are very few people that I would trust with one of my knives, in fact I think I'd only trust my dad and perhaps a few guys from my traditional leatherworking class. Something they all have in common is that they already carry their own knives. I think my dad has only borrowed one of my knives three times in my whole life, and not because he didn't have one of his own but because he wanted to try out my latest toy.

I've lent knives to a couple of friends in the past, they were luckily never damaged but a couple of times I thought my friend would cut off a finger. People are just not used to properly sharpened knives.

I was helping my father put a new back door up last night, and he wanted to borrow my knife. Instead of handing over my Spyderco Native, I got my $8 Mora and let him use that. He chopped the tip off of a can of glue, btw.

Another reason I always carry a SAK as a back-up. I'll lend it out, but not my "good knife".

Most of the people I work with know me fairly well. Most folks ar scared to borrow my knives. I always get comments on how scary sharp the things are.
rather than borrow it people just tell me to "cut here" and ammazingly enough most of the time they don't bother moving there hands, trusting me to execute the cut. Now that is freaky!

Rick (Ricky two knives)

Of course I hear all the puns from a few like. "Rick's a pretty knife guy", "...Look he even has BUCK(c) teeth" (that one's my fave) and "Have a good knife"

I lend my knives rather often to my dad because I know he will use them properly and he also knows how much I payed for them. Sometimes I lend my knife to my friends if I know what they are going to do with it.

I know that everyone here is full of goodwill, but I don't feel the least bit inclined to carry or own a loaner. I bought my knife, they can buy theirs.

Same here. I just say no.
