Don't own a Case. Which of these two and why?

Wow, quite a few more comments! Thanks guys, I really appreciate them. My gut was telling me Tribal lock and with a couple of you who also own the Bucks like I do, your comments are particularly appreciated.

Tribal lock all the way. One of the best current production knives from Case in my opinion. The trapperlock i do have is ok, but sees far less pocket time20200314_084319.jpg

FYI there is a Trapperlock with a thumb stud and pocket clip (I have one), but most of them have neither (I have one of those too).
I have never seen a Case Trapperlock without a thumb stud... Ever.
So I was super curious and searched Google and eBay... still nothing.
I'd sure like to see one if you could post it, or message me if you're worried about the liner lock.

I see little point in any kind of lock on a slip joint, but I do prefer a half stop which provides a tad of safety. Get the one you think you'll like the best. Many lock backs on slip joints will have a little blade play.

Son of a...

A couple of thoughts here:

1) I really hate shooting my mouth off and being wrong :( I just went and found my non-clip Trapperlock and it does, indeed, have a thumb stud

2) My Tribal lock is on my dresser (along with a few other knives ;) ) where I can grab it and put it in my pocket. The Trapperlock I had to go find, and it had been so long since I carried it, I pictured it without a thumb stud. I think from this its obvious I much prefer the Tribal lock....so at least I got that part right :p

You are right John :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Mea Culpa

Another vote for the Tribal Lock. It feels smaller than it really is; and the build quality is top notch. No blade play, strong lock up but not hard to release.

I am still waiting for the mini Tribal Lock. C'mon Case!! 3.5 inches approximately please. Same like you did with the Copperlocks.

I have 3 Tribal Locks and they are very nice. They would be my choice over the trapper lock.

Since the Trapper lock, with the liner lock, thumb stud and pocket clip doesn't really fit our definition of a traditional knife, I'm glad it's not getting much notice here. If it was I'd have to move the thread.
That said, I do have a Tribal lock. Just an all around great knife. You can't beat the blade, and Case has done a great job on these.

Wish I could still find this model in stock at the dealers. I really like the bolster detail on this one.

… I love trappers, but will NEVER get a trapper-lock.

+1

I thought I had to have a Case trapperlock, and bought a stag handled, real good looking one. It felt utterly awkward in my hand. The thumb stud is quite impractical on such a thin handled knife. I returned it, and bought my 7th Case copperlock.

CSG CSG , the full sized Case copperlock I reckon would fit your needs well.

Tribal lock for sure.
Personally, I like trappers but I cant get into the trapper lock. Plus, I dont like liner locks, especially on a traditional knife.

I would choose the tribal lock. I don’t own one personally but one is definitely on my to buy list.
