Don't you get tired of your Match Case weighing over an ounce? Updated prototype

Joe,

I normally hike about 20 miles in a day - but since I switched out my match cases - it is like my pack weighs NOTHING! I can put on at least 30 miles in a day.

p.s. Looks like I will need to make a few of these for sale - let me get the o-rings and delrin sorted - I will post a link in my signature if I get a few done. They may not be all that cheap though - as carbon fiber isn't cheap - nor is machine time.

I would like one also, please let the early birds get the worm!!! nothing better than custom tooling . please pm. thanks, hepclass

I thought of my reply(with a quick look at my gear list) before even viewing the thread, but that carbon fiber case is really cool!

My reply was geared toward people looking to save weight, so if anyone clicked on the thread for that...
Matches and striker pad in miniature zip-loc bag, mini Bic, Scout Firesteel-3 firestarting methods: ~1.4oz
.17oz total for the bag with 20 matches.

btw, the matches that come with those orange plastic waterproof match containers at Wal-Mart are coated, and water-resistant, if not waterproof. I've held them under running water for a minute, and they strike on the first try. I use the containers for protecting 18650 li-ion batteries in my work bag.

I agree Owen - my title was simply a joke. An ounce is an ounce - I simply thought it would be cool to machine a Carbon Fiber match case.

I always laugh at people who obsess about lightening their pack with gear when loosing 5 - 10 pounds off their waist would be the best way to lighten their load.

Now you're gettin' personal :p
I AM prepping for a trip with some serious elevation gains in a couple of places, and hope re-losing(it comes and goes) 10lb off my waist will be a natural consequence of that!
Maybe I'll take half the matches out of the little zip-loc bag, too...:D
