Don't you think that the mini-grip and the rat-2 are too small ?

I have small hands for a man, yet I still think the Rat-2 and the mini-grip handles are too small for me. The pinky is barely fitting on the handles. How do people with average to big hands feel about them ?

They are both too small for me although the Rat 2 isn't bad. FWIW, I usually wear an XL glove, sometimes 2XL.

If I want to carry a 3" or under blade, my go to is the Delica 4. Nice long handle for the blade length.

BM Mini grip 2.91" blade length with 3.87" handle
Delica 4 FFG 2.87" blade length with 4.25" handle.

Small folding knives like those are designed for compact carry rather than being fully gripped.

I have wide but not long hands. Opening a mini grip is awkward for me. A full size grip is perfect.

While I do own both of those knives, I hardly ever carry them.

Not because they are too small, but because the SAK or Leatherman I am also carrying has a blade similar in size, so it feels redundant. I prefer a larger size such as the standard Griptillian or Rat 1.

I can feel you. I moved away from small folders myself for two reasons :

- The benchmade bugout made me realize how unconfortable they were because of their small handles.
- My leatherman Squirt cover my needs in terms of smallish cut.

Thanks for that ratio, I didn't know. The Delica is on my list now. I'll try it.

I think the mini-grip is too small. The smallest knife that I regularly use is a Spyderco PM2.

I got the bm mini super freek. Grip is just enough larger than the mini grip that it is comfortable for my xl hand and it will fit in the fifth (watch) pocket.

The mini-grip is my go to backup edc. For the size its not too big nor it is small. I have the desert tan with the black blade 154CM and in a office environment, it not that intimidating compared to full size folders such as XM18 3.5" or large 21 sebenza. In my grip, it does feel comfortable with all 4 fingers and for size reference I use L size Mechanix gloves.

If you lean towards the griptilian, my advice would be go for the g10 version with satin axis lock. Reason being the satin lock is smoother, whereas the black ones will wear its coating out and feels gritty. The G10 handles are simply grippier compared to the plactic handles and washing the folder is much easier. As for blade type, the modified sheeps foot is the one to go as it does not have the thumb studs which in my opinion provide the max cutting ability.

Depending on who made the glove, I wear either large or XL, and I love my Mini Grip. Much bigger than that and I'd rather have a fixed blade. My pinkie just barely touches the handle. But I'm cutting with it, not prying or digging or twisting, so having the pinkie mostly off of the handle shouldn't matter, should it?

For me, a pocket knife spends more time in the pocket than in the hand, so smaller is better, and the design of the Mini Grip makes it quite comfortable in hand for me. I've never had any trouble opening or closing it, and haven't been cutting anything and thought, "wish this handle was longer".

;) Recommended , just for you OP :

Kidding aside , I prefer a full sized grip .

I would trade my full-size grip for a mini. The Rat 2 was also my choice. After messing around with Opinel 7s and 8s for many years, I came around to the 6 for daily carry. I am beginning to detect a pattern.

Agree. I dont have large hands for a man. I wear large gloves comfortably but can even squeeze into a med size nitrile glove if needed just for reference. I found a mini grip at my last job on the floor. It basically just sits in a drawer now. Way to small for any kind of comfortable grip. I also got my wife a rat2 years ago as a gift. And while better than the mini grip its still quit small and if I was going to carry one id go for the full size of each.

No, but I prefer smaller knives especially since I work in an "office" setting.

I don't own a mini-grip but have a Rat2 even though it's rarely carried anymore.

I prefer Bugout, Para 3 LW, Para 3 G10, Chapparal, Dragonfly 2, ZT 0460ti, ZT 0450cf, Native 5, Lil Native if I'm going small.

I have a mini grip and found the shape of the handle to be the problem. The slope in back makes it hard to grip......I changed the handle to aluminum from Applied Technologies. This handle is good but a little to square in shape.
The rat 2 is the best all around knife in a smaller size. The handle shape is great.
My hand size is med to large.
