I have been looking for a double bit hatchet for about 6 months and either haven't found the one I want, or it's not available. I have a Lee Reeves axe on order but won't be ready until late summer.

I am cruising ebay and here for a good Marbles double bit (not the one made in china) with no luck.

My question is this, anyone ever use this one?http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=CN4020S

Not to keen on the 440c blade. Any opinions would be great.

The Nessmuk that Ragnar has is out of stock. He emaild me and is way backed up on the axe right now.

Any opinions on the China Marbles double bit would be helpful as well.

I love the double bits, but have never used any but a full size.
Off the bat I can say I am wary of stainless for an impact tool like a hatchet.
These seem to be a hot item right now, I would pay top dollar for a Lee reeves myself, but I am currently looking for something a bit bigger, maybe the 16 to 18 inch range, but I'm pretty sure it would be a custom job and set me back a bit.

Thats exactly what I thought.

I agree. I have a Reeves double with on order but would like a more economical double bit as well. I think I will just keep my eye out for a old marbles #9 double bit. No reason to get in a hurry.

I've been told, and I cant remember by whom, it was someone on here. That the one that ragnar had wasn't the best. Now this is not tos ay anything bad about ragar, Hes got some good stuff, but there was something about the double bit he had. mabye The edges were too obtuse???
Sorry im so veg about this, I just really can remember what it was about it, but there was something.

Ragnars are cast, so the edges are a bit thicker then most people would like I suppose. He has some great designs though, worth the work of reprofiling.

I;ve used a marbles safety hatchet with a synthetic handle for a couple years and it's held up well.I got it free with a marbles knife so it's probably imported. I would think the double bit would be ok,have you checked smokey mountain knife works they used to have a good deal on seconds.

Happy chopping

The Marble's (China) double bit is just a little bit less than useless. I'm trying to redo the handle on mine (the head keeps slipping off) and it will need SERIOUS regrinding before it will be useful for anything other than bustin' dirt clods. Save your money. Unless you like chasing flying axeheads.

The one from Ragweed is good. The Marbles is too big and heavy for what Nessmuk intended(I had one) The Lee Reeves is worth the wait and don't be afraid to use it. I use mine all the time like Here::http://forum.ramanon.com/showthread.php?t=41564

There is a smith in Sweden that I know from a couple of other forums that works for an axe company that is working on another version. I would wait for his rather than the stainless. I have a Firestone Belt Axe in stainless and I'm not really impressed with the chopping or sharpening potential of stainless.

Hey GUys..

Not really a hatchet, but I've been wanting a Cold Steel Bad Axe for awhile..
Looks like a Hoot to throw!!
