Double burner forge

its going down to 20 here in austin tonight. i'll probably wake up this morning to a good 50 or 60, and let it progress to 75.

Being from Northern Minn. and growing up before wind chill was the thing. If the thermometer said -50 it was to cold for the wind to blow. (I think it froze).
Anyway when it was 50 below zero and the wind was blowing YOU GOT OUT OF THE WIND.
I figure one of thes days somebody will figure that out.
As soon as I found out there were warmer places to be I moved there.
Take Care
TJ

It was pretty chilly here in YUMA today, had to be 70 with a wind chill of 69 1/2. The kids even have to wear shoes.

I'd just like to go on the record and say all you guys enjoying warm weather can go to hell.
The weatherman is calling for up to 8" of snow in the next 2 days, and more subzero weather :grumpy:

My teacher is an ex- western rider- we get chapps. Showing is gonna be a pain in the ass, but hey, I can deal with it. I only been riding a few months now, but I'm with kids who have ridden for a few years- I learn pretty quick. There is also the fact that I'm only 13. Those two things make it hard to have any experiance with the farrier. I'm pretty happy about the farrier visit, cause I'm too young too attend blacksmithing classes. Other than the occasional farrier visit- I'm gonna wing it.
As far as the biting problem goes- that's the 16h German, and he only nipps (they can leave monster bruises though).

In general, Farriers know alot about horses and a lot about tools and blacksmithing, the good ones that really have an interest in their trade do anyway. Do your best to be helpful, and show interest in whats going on and you might make a friend that will teach you alot.
Let them do thier job though, its hard work and sometimes dangerous. Sometimes the best way you can help is to stay out of the way. If thats the case, just watch what they do you can learn a lot from that by itself.

Some would say that I'm allready there. Me, personally, well... Texas can get hot that way. I'm probably gonna like hell if it gets to be like Texas. As far as the -0 weather goes- I can't blame you for being born a Yank, but I can for staying one :D :footinmou .

I'll also make sure to not be a nuisance- thanks Matt

I wasn't suggesting that you were going to be a PITA or anything. I guess I should put it this way, having had to step in and pull shoes, or do emergency trim jobs on horses before....when your almost standing on your head, wrestling a horse for its foot and trying to use tools that could smash a finger or cut you....you don't necessarily feel like answering questions. So don't think the guys a jerk if he doesn't want to talk, sometimes they can't, or sometimes they're too busy with what they're doing to even hear what you said.
Most of the time, they're the type of person to find out you want to make knives or take up blacksmithing and get excited and try to help you out. But don't take it personally if they don't want to talk much or don't have time to show you anything. Its just the nature of the work sometimes. Watching them work though can show you a lot and can be pretty interesting either way thogh :)
