I live in the Midwest & we have a lot of humidity, as well as quick change seasons.
Opinions on DC vs. Satin for a SHBM knife?
Satin is probly $150 plus add---worth it?

Thanks Guys,
Mark

DC is more prone to surface bloom, so if you don't want to keep the blade waxed/oiled, I would go satin -- or get the DC and refinish it yourself.

1066,

Thats pretty much what I thought too.
I changed order to Satin.

Southern,

The DC option is on the far right, next to Arctic White.
I went with Satin---So Damn cool!

Omg! Double Cut all the way across the sky! What does it mean? .... Seriously sounds like a awesome finish.

Here is an ASH-1 with Double Cut, photo courtesy of Ken Lunde. Double Cut is media blasted with two different types of media to create a frosty bare metal finish. One of my favorites.

either or there both cool looking satin holds up better I think to humidity and moisture but if you keep them well taken care of you should be fine with either option.

Even on a new DC blade like this one you can see surface variations that look like faint shadows, showing the characteristic "tarnish bloom" is beginning. On the plus side, with a little oil and care it never seems to progress beyond a medium-gray shadow--doesn't turn to orange/brown rust as readily as the Competition Finish does. And it won't show surface scratches nearly as much as satin--something really has to scuff or scratch it hard to show up much at all and then it still doesn't seem as noticeable as on satin in my experience. Not a bad working finish at all.

I love satin on a showoff knife but nothing looks better on a user than double cut.

 That's what I was thinking, I'm gonna get a CG user in DC with black canvas and choil. I don't care if I live in the swamp, I'll just keep the damn thing oiled:D
