Double Posting

I suspect a software update incompatibility glitch.

When everything on a computer is working just fine (or nearly so), and BOOM, something starts freaking out/acting up/crashing/etc, it's usually a sw glitch.

When sw developers test new code modules, they are generally working with a system that is fairly clean, w/ respect to drivers and sw installed. in the real world, users have all kinds of "stuff" running on their systems. And with the right "bug" in the new sw, the issue will only occur when the right combination of sw and hw is present AND running.

I used to have a job where I would have to take systems that were having issues similar to what we are seeing here (and worse  ). AFTER I tracked down the culprits, we then would have to convince the two parties that a) there was a problem, b) their stuff was causing it and c) they needed to fix it because d) changing the hw wasn't gonna work.

So don't expect a quick fix.

I access BF from several different computers, both Mac and PC, from two entirely different internet connection (both 10+megs) and have the exact same symptoms on all.

I'm no techy, but I believe the problem is somewhere inside the iBulletin program. So, you take a bug and add it to the high amount of traffic and slow server issues. Sure, I'm stating the obvious but hopefully this will get worked out. Yes, it is irritating, but it is easily avoided:

When you get the message box that says "Leave Page" Hit YES. The screen that comes up will look like your post in a new window and have the appearance that it has not been uploaded (IT HAS, DO NOT HIT SUBMIT POST (I think that's what it says.

All you have to do at this point is go up and either refresh your browser page or hit any of the hyper links to anywhere else. Yes, even the hyperlink back to the start of the topic you are still in will let you go back and it won't have messed up your post.

Someone of the first page had the right idea, however, he had an extra step in there. Just do what I do and avoid the dreaded double tap

vbulletin can be temperamental, which is putting it mildly. Spark has a guy that works on it from time to time, I'm sure he is aware of the issues and is trying to keep things smooth. Hang in there guys, I know it's a huge pain in the cheeks. I am seeing the double posting things as well, believe me Spark is aware and he does agonize over these things and it pisses him off when it happens. It's not going to stay this way, but he will come through like he always does.
