Doug Ritter Becker RSK Mark II

Since I have lost hope of actually finding a BK10, this one's on the Christmas list. Nice examples, those of you that posted!

If anyone has one with serial #143, let me know. If it's not that SN, I'll just order it new.

Nope. I mean sure you can, it'll cost the same though and come with the sheath and grivory. So no.

I got #189. The blade itself seems really nice. Anything Rowen made seems to be top notch. A nice grind, razor sharp and a quality finish. The sheath was a little better then I had actually expected. She will have micarta on her by the end of the day ;)

Is the Grivory on these as bad as everyone was saying?

Kinda curious.

Can I just purchase the blade for this one? I want to strip the blade, and get micarta handles on it.

I was just saying to myself it would look outstanding if:

  1. The guard was reduced to match the handle
  2. Micarta slabs were added
  3. The thumb ramp was removed, and
  4. It was stripped and polished.

Add a nice leather sheath and it would be pretty awesome. Who's up for it:)?

I thought that when I first saw it as well crimsonfalcon... then I saw the pricetag, and felt pretty good about my decision :D.

I like this knife, but agree with removing the bottom guard. It just looks out of place to me. That, and I would prefer a drop point to a spear point, but thats just me.

Any chance we could have a contest for one of these bad boys sometime? We've seen just about all of the other Beckers here, but this one is different, and I don't know if that would work out. Would be sweet though.

Hi everyone and thanks for the compliments. Some of us like the old style Camillus handles, even if they are not quite as perfect as the new KA-BAR ones. Different strokes... All that matters is whether they work for you in your hands. The good news is that there are lots of aftermarket alternatives, including the KA-BAR Grivory ande Micarta and many made by others.

Also, just for the record, the RSK Mk2 Perseverance is a Drop Point. Really!

Really? I had always heard it was a spear point, but I guess I can see where you are coming from.

I guess when I think of a drop point I don't think of it... dropping... that much.

Thanks for the input :D.

Looks like a drop point to me... Might have to pick one of these up, rehandle in cocobolo, maybe modify the handle a bit to fit my tastes a bit better. It can keep my Ritter Grip company.

Well Doug, I appreciate you designing such a useful knife. I am more then happy with it. It meets my needs very well and we all know and respect most everything coming from Rowen. They are top notch.

I'm planning on getting one of these next year when I visit the US, so leave at least one available for me!

Now I kinda wish I had gotten this instead of the BK2. Oh well, I'll add it to the list.

I think a lot of BK-2 owners, if they handle the Perseverance, would say the same thing. This is really the knife I was looking for when I bought my BK-2 (of course I said that about the BK-10, too).

The fact that the handle scales are left over Camillus scales (at least that's what I infer from the threads above) explains a lot. The scales have the identical feel as those that came on my BK-10, and that's a good thing. The Camillus grivory has an ever-so-slightly rougher texture than the Ka-Bar version and feels slightly grippier.

The sheath is an upgrade, too. It follows the common design used for other Becker knives like the BK-7 but it is made out of heavier/stiffer material and includes some subtle improvements like a stiffening tab on the retention strap and a MOLLE strap on the back.

By the way, I got #203. I didn't realize it was a serial number until I started reading this thread.

I've got #087. Love the knife. not going to change a thing. Well I did put the sheath away and molded my short Combat master to it. Hopefully some pics coming soon.
