KnifeWorks is pleased to announce Doug Ritter's long-awaited RSK® Mk1 with Bohler-Uddeholm M390 third-generation powder metallurgy high carbon stainless steel, finished with Doug's exclusive heavy stonewash. Hardened and tempered to HRC 60-62, this evolutionary high-tech blade steel offers improved edge holding, greater toughness and higher corrosion resistance. Even better, the RSK Mk1 with M390 steel is an even more incredible value at only $5 more than the original!
Doug has now upgraded the RSK® Mk1's blade steel to Bohler-Uddeholm's M390 third-generation powder metallurgy high carbon stainless steel. Hardened and tempered to HRC 60-62, two full points more than the original, M390 provides even better edge holding, while also improving toughness, as well as increased corrosion resistance. M390 represents the latest evolution in knife steel technology, providing improved performance in every respect over the original's still highly respected CPM S30V blade steel. Essentially, M390 is S30V on steroids, and it is now available at a value price in Doug's RSK folders.
The sturdy, ergonomic glass-filled Noryl GTX handles, stainless inset liners and patented super strong ambidextrous AXIS Lock are pure Griptilian, proven over the past decade as a Benchmade classic. This is a handle that just plain works with a secure non-slip grip and a pronounced finger guard for safety, as well as a full-size lanyard hole. The pocket clip is reversible.
What helps sets the RSK® Mk1 apart is Doug's wide-chord and robust drop point blade design. This is a traditional blade style, very strong all the way to the point and very versatile. The 3.34 in. (8.48 cm), by 0.114-inch (2.90 mm) thick, blade has a high, flat grind for cutting ease and strength. This grind makes for excellent slicing geometry.
The blade's spine incorporates a prominent ramped thumb rest for enhanced control and security. This thumb rest portion of the spine also does an excellent job creating sparks using an artificial flint and can be used with the knife closed for added safety.
The blade finish is a strikingly beautiful, but very practical "stonewashed" tumbled finish that also serves to seal the metal's pores for added corrosion protection and strength. The result is a subdued finish, but one that is smooth and just barely lustrous. The finishing media and process was designed expressly for this knife to get the exclusive finish quality enhanced properties Doug desired.
Dual thumb lugs provide ambidextrous opening, easy even with gloves on, completing the fully ambidextrous nature of the RSK® Mk1.
