Quick question which knife do you think would make the best Survival knife, the Ritter RSK MK3 or the Fallkniven F1 ?
Which would you trust the most and why ?

Just from rep of the company and the reviews that I've read on the F1, it's the knife I would choose. Maybe I would have a different take on the MK3 if I had the opportunity to use both knives side by side, but I doubt it.

don't own any but the f1 and it is all the knife it's a great survival knife... If I lived in q world where I was only allowed to have 1 knife that would be it.

I wouldnt say that the RSK is bad but I think the knives are developed for different environments. They might both be the best knife, both not at the same place.
I know the F1 was developed to work in the arctic and it is now on its fifth generation in the evolution so it has improved (like it needed that :) ) from the first ATS34 knives.

I have not tried the RSK but it is about 175 USD when the F1 is about the half.

Well. I would pick the F1 anytime, unless convinced otherwise.

Come on guys. I am going to have to get that F-1, Damn!

Do you know that how much pain you guys cuse?

I bought an F1 last week...it's all I wanted it to be. Small and sturdy. Cuts well. Works fine with a baton. Hides nice on my side or in a pack...there when I need it.

The Ritter has a higher grind and a thinner blade, it is a wicked slicer but maybe not as strong as the F1. I also like the handle better on the Ritter. But you won't go wrong with either one.

i would go with the F1.. it's an awesome field knife... i'm sure you won't be dissapointed... i've never handled the ritter mk1, but i hear it's alo a nice knife.... i still think either way, you can't go wrong....:D

On a related subject, who owns the A-1 Army survival knife and whats the difference between the F-1 and A-1?

Fällkniven F1. Because the blade size and shape is more practical to my purposes, and also because it's tougher by virtue of being thicker than the RSK and having a laminated construction. I also prefer the convex grind. The F1 also has a much better, in my humble opinion, handle - more grippy than the RSK's G10, and since the F1 handle encloses around the tang, your hand won't freeze because of touching the bare metal of the tang in cold conditions. Oh, and on top of all that, the F1 is a hell of a lot cheaper, too. :D

The A1 is totally different from the F1. The F1 is small and light, the A1 is much larger and heavier, and very thick. A1 chops better and can take abuse better than the F1, it's very tough - although not "Busse tough", if you care for that sort of thing. On the other hand, despite the size, the A1 is a very effective knife, that is to say a cutting tool.

The F1 is the knife I take in the woods period. I may have others with me but it is my mainstay. Perfect wilderness knife for me.

They are both good products- check them out and see what suits your hand the best!

I have the Ritter, but not the F1 (yet). I like the Ritter and it is certainly good quality and a slicer, but I find the grip a little 'unusual'. YMMV.

I do have an A1 (larger as has been pointed out) and the grip is perfect.

I picked up my F1 about a week or so ago and all thats been said about it is true solid well made knife.i dont have the Ritter mkIII BUT I do have the fixed Griptilian in 154cm stainless slightly diffrent blade profile and diffrent steel but basicly the same knife as the RSK. The Griptilian is larger than the F1, about the same size as my CS Master hunter, the F1's blade is thicker both the fixed grip and F1 were wicked sharp out of the box I have a bit of an issue with the griptilian's grip panals they are about 1/8in. smaller than the tang leaving a ridge of metal that will raise blisters, both are good knives I don't think either will let you down, that being said I think you would get more bang for the buck with the Fallkniven

F-1 if you want a compromise between raw cutting power and toughness. I've handled the RSK mK3 and it is one helluva slicer!
