Down to Just One Knife

This is bladeforums here we encourage you to buy knives until your wallet is empty what is this blasphemy

You only need a fixed blade if you're doing things that require a fixed blade. <Just my opinion> I'd encourage a SAK if you do any urban traveling. As such, I frequent probate courts and jails because I work for a company that writes the software that goes in them. I generally have a "scary tactical" on me, but because I need a knife for various tasks, I carry a SAK or leatherman. The police officers/jailers usually just look at it and wave me through. But I have ran into a couple guys that told me to turn around and take the larger folders back to the car.

I could never do that! I like picking out my knife as part of my "outfit"......
With that being said, if I had to I could go no lower than 3: one work, one weekend, one fixed blade.

I'm definitely a minimalist at heart also, with knives being the only exception :D
Be hard to have just one. Not counting kitchen knives, there's a couple categories I'd want to fill - fixed blade, small EDC, at least one good 'un for whittlin', aw heck, who am I kidding - I NEED ALL my knives :D
Good for you, OP
I know my bank account would certainly be happier if I could do as you

Once my Large Starbenza arrived all my other knives think I'm down to just one. The incoming Umnumzaan should fix that. ;)

One day you are soooooo going to kick yourself in the ass for selling your collection off like that.

This happened to me when I sold off about a dozen Benchmades over a decade ago. Now I have a bigger, nicer collection.

I also had four Glocks and a really nice, expensive, engraved shotgun. I should have never sold those off either. I will never sell another gun off period.
I replaced one Glock with a G20SF. It's amazing what this pistol can do with 16 rounds of full power 10mm Underwood ammo.

Back on topic. Pull this thread back up in a year and let us know how many knives you currently have then. :)

I never could understand the 'I want just one knife' concept. Recently, I want on a three week trip. I took along for the ride, a Spyderco Southard flipper, a Spyderco Stretch, a Benchmade Griptilion and a ProTech Doru auto.
In my Maxpedition, was a Leatherman tool, a Swiss Army multi tool, a CRKT pry bar/tool and an ESSE Izulla II. Stuffed in my other junk bag, was a Bark River Bravo, and an ESEE 4.

I felt naked, and under knifed!!! One knife, INDEED!!!

I can't even carry just one knife a day, much less own just one. Today I have a Case CV Trapper, a Vic Classic, and an Izula. Overkill? Yes, indeed. But legal and enjoyable.

I haven't wanted to go that low, but I could see getting by with just my CRK Small Sebenza. If I had to choose just one, that would be my pick. It's small enough to carry anywhere, but incredibly tough. I've put mine throught the paces and it has held up amazingly well.

I am curious to see how long I can go with just my 550. I won't lie, it is difficult. I will stick to my guns though. But I promise to update this thread the moment I crack and purchase another knife :) I'm really getting interested in customs. That's not good.

Same here. I get tremendous satisfaction out of using something till I can't use it any more.

I have to agree, It's not that I don't like knives, but if the one I have works fine, why am I replacing it. I guess I have always felt like using something until it's worn out and destroyed, means I didn't wast any money, because I got all I could out of it. All of my friends call me cheap, I honestly see it as being efficient, and not wasting useful resources. In a way l almost feel guilty purchasing thing i really don't need, even though I might have the money.

I haven't owned just one knife in a long time.
I know I could do it and could get by.
But I like them all so much.
I have more than I need, but that's okay.
They all get used or have been used.
I enjoy them, so no reason to give them up.

Congrats on your decision though. It'd be tough but you really do only need one. At least for most daily chores.
The ZT 0550 is a good knife. Should work great. =]
I would have gone with a Large Sebenza. Lol.
