This was from a short run that Dozier (St. Paul) did a couple years ago. This one has never been used or sharpened and o bought it new. It’s a 4-inch D2 blade with a unique handle style. You could actually find the process of how Bob made these on the AG Russell YouTube feed. $450 PayPal G&S TYD.

I am very interested in this knife. I will try and message you, I have a couple questions

Can’t message, guess my gold membership expired, I’ll renew later. What is the handle material? How wide is the blade(edge to spine) at its thickest point?

Thanks!

I’m fairly sure it’s a Micarta that was glued on in parts with reddish and gold spacers between. Some of these had wood handles and others were synthetic like this one. The butt is an insert that closes it all up. It’s a little short of 1/4” at the thickest part of the spine.

The butt.... what do you mean insert that closes it up? I've never seen a end like that on his, is there hardware going into it, what's that dark material?
Hard to tell from that view?

Thanks

That’s what I mean. I think it’s Delrin but not totally sure. These were unique for him and similar to some he did decades ago I think. They have a soldered threaded bolt into the tang and then a nut and epoxy that closes it up with that end cap.

Here are a couple videos where he just so happens to be working on these types of knives:

It is a delrin cap that screws onto the tang screw that he braises on the end. It then ground down with the handle.

I'll have to dig deeper on that name, Google wasn't great.... I didn't find it yet.
Thanks.

Sorry for the clutter.

Looks like a cool knife, I was inches from buying, myself..... Good score. Very interesting.
Still gotta get my First Dozier..... haha

Sorry, autocorrect got me. I tried to fix and it changed to “selfie.” Finally hit it correct. It is Delrin.

Right here on the bottom of this. I didn’t get a pic before Houston, but it is threaded, almost looks like a chair floor bumper. Screws onto the threaded tang then you’ll grind it down.

Ok, good...... now I know what to look for with the "next one" haha..... Thanks.
Not that I can afford one, but I am casually on the hunt for a Dozier Bare Bones, of sorts.

I want to start making guarded knives and the Bare Bones line speaks to me as far as design goes. I'd like to make something similar, but I Never see them come up, Here, or hear if people like them

He probably doesn’t make a lot of those any more. They are amazing. I have the Master Skinner and its size and weight are awesome. It’s similar to the feel of the bare bones that I have handled.
