Dozier Folder: Problem

I have no less than 23 of the Dozier folders. Every color, size, and blade shape in plain edge, along with some doubles. Look at my various reviews and photos here. I like swapping blades (the shiny clip point blade on the orange handle is sweet). However, my newest one (a model 4066) has a huge problem: it's missing the lockbar spring. Seriously. It came out of the factory shrink wrap (inside the box, of course) and opening was way too smooth. So I disengaged the lock, and the lockbar fell through the handle opening (it was still attached via the pin). Lo and behold, there's no lockbar spring in this knife! How did this pass quality control? I called and asked about it, and the factory won't send me a lockbar spring. They said I'll have to send the knife in. I'm not spending $8 to ship a $17 knife. One lemon out of 23-26 isn't bad, but what the hell?

You're overpaying on your shipping if it's costing you $8 to ship 3 ounces.

I use UPS to ship knives for warranty work, as most companies have said that it's more reliable. It typically costs me $7-$8 to ship a folding knife.

That's definitely too bad and it's a very strange piece to be missing. You have a lot of those folders, man!

Here you go Moose, just a few;

Skinner with modified wharncliff-like blade, pink handle with normal (non-breast cancer awareness) clip point blade, orange handle with normal (not black) 4062 blade, 4062 that used to be black-bladed.

The other side of the last three...

Same four as before, but with a spear point, thumb hole blade, and large version added...

Not a Dozier, but one of my favorites...

1 out of 23-26 for you, but in all likely hood, it's 1 out of 1000s or 10,000s :) that's pretty good.

plus, they're taking care of it for you.

nice way to scam a free knife. its people like you who take advantage of the generosity on this forum man. we don''t even have anything showing that you own any ka-bar knives... all i see are random pics of random ka-bars you probably got off the net. you sometimes post about millitary &other fields of expertise but what exactl y makes you an authority?? wheres your resume??

Jim, I never requested a free knife. Tooj offered me a solution to get the knife replaced for very little cost, and I turned him down. I found a lockbar spring that fits in the Dozier. Ask him to verify if you want. So, yeah, thanks for contributing to the thread.

However, I guess you could argue that all of those were made up, even the ones with photos. Here are the ones that I took a Dremel and made some grooves in the handle, as the thumb stud sits too close to the handle for me. By the way, I posted about this mod earlier. And I took this photo just for you...

I guess those could have been stolen from any website as well. Hmm. Tell you what, I've shown many photos of my tattoos, from all angles and in all manners of lighting. Maybe an in-hand shot would be good? See the sign and tattoos? That's my arm! Cool!

I just sent moosez45 my resume via E-mail. You won't see it. He's a Moderator and somebody I trust. And by the way, it's spelled "military".

J;

Don't let some dude with 20 posts get you down.

Anyway, care to (at your leisure, of course) post more photos of your wharncliffe mod? I really like how that blade shape ended up!

I'll get some up. All I did was remove the hump on the spine; I didn't have to touch the edge at all.

good job JNieporte!

general good policy, esp on the forums: don't feed the trolls. a quick look at their posting resume is more than enough to determine what you need, their habits, and so forth. especially with so few posts, it only takes a minute :)

to get back on topic: so, how's that repaired knife holding out?
