Dozier Folders

Pocket clip?

My small plain Sebenza w/polished (instead of stonewashed) blade was pretty much EXACTLY the same price.

If I'd only known....

High Easyrider: The January, 2001 issue of Blade Magazine, Page 138 (Tech Locks) has a fine article entitled "No More Stop-Pin Blues" in which it describes in some detail the Dozier Tab Stop. I have a couple of his Tab Stop locking knives and am very pleased with them. If you do not get this publication, you can email Blade at blade@krause.com and perhaps get a copy of the article.

In my own words, basically the Tab Stop replaces the stop-pin found in most folders to stop the blade in the fully open posistion. This has enabled Mr. Dozier flexibility , in the absence of the stop-pin and the cut-out supporting it, to use whatever blade shape he wants and at the same time provide a positive, tight and quite secure lock. If you want , I'll copy the article and send it to you, just email me. FF.

After sending Bob an e-mail about his lock and if there was a problem with blade movement, he responded with the above statement.

Sorry about that, could not get the quote function to work. Here is what he said

In answer to your question about my side lock or liner lock folders, I do not allow for play in the lock. If someone has such a knife I would like him or her to return it so that I can take care of the problem. I believe that my liner locks are among the best made. AND the price is right! Thank you for your interest in Dozier Knives.

I know this wasn't AG's intent, but none-the-less, I'm afraid AG has caught me misusing terms, and I should have learned to describe these blades properly by now. So allow me to rectify the misinformation I have provided :o

* Terzuola TTF (a sabre ground point w/ swedge?):
http://www.knifeart.com/stagatcf.html

* BM 710 (sabre ground w/ swedge?):

AG, how would one properly describe the above grinds? (the Terzuola TTF and 710?)

I do not seem to be needed but just to keep anyone from wondering if I am watching I will answer the above.

The Terzuola is indeed a drop point sabre ground blade, a sabre can just as easily be clip point

The Benchmade is more difficult. I would not call it sabre ground but I would find it hard to say one who did was wrong. I would simply call it a drop point blade with swedge

The Dozier is classic Spear Point

All the best,

A. G.

In my opinion, another fine example of a sabre ground drop point blade is the new A.G. Russell Strike Force Folding Camp Knife. It sports a 3-3/4 " drop point sabre ground blade of VG-10 steel with a Rc. of about 60, a black powder coated 6061 aluminum integral handle with G-10 inserts. This lockback design illustrates just how much Mr. Russell understands the user end of the outdoor market, in my opinion. It looks to be a tough knife with great steel and built to take almost anything in a wildeness enviroment. The price is great also. See, I just talked myself into getting one. Does anyone have one yet? If so I would like to learn of your thoughts, thanks.

A question based on less than perfect sight: In looking at the Dozier folders on his site, it appeared to me that those with the Micarta w/inlay handle might have a back spacer in the same color as the contrasting inlay. Looks pretty nifty, but not sure am seeing it right. Is this so?

Thanks,

Hello B3X: I see what you mean. I can speak for my Ivory(white) Micarta w/black oval inlay. It has a black micarta(matching)back spacer...if you are tralking about the spacer placed between the handle scales near the rear end (butt) of the knife. I am not sure of the other colors, but if you email Bob either he or his wife will probably respond with an answer.

I saw that one too. I like it a lot -- in fact I almost ordered one last night. I just the handle inserts were something OTHER than black G-10. Stag or wood or SOMETHING a little more "outdoorsy".

Michael: I know what your mean. Sounds like some of the guys are ready to replace the G-10 with another material. My interest in this "grippy, tough" material (not voting for the color) is for winter camping and anytime during wet or very humid conditions where grip and material choice come together. It is neat that the handle is integral with inserts ....almost like the Burger King slogan...have it your way. ;) I ordered mine already and will post an opinion after it arrives. It maybe this knife is new and not a lot of them have gone out A.G.'s front door YET. Catch U later..FF

I sure look forward to hearing about it. I nearly ordered one last night. Kinda glad I didn't, as I was able to order my first custom today with the money I "saved". :-)

This knife stuff is downright addicting!

I'm going to spend next week in East Grand Forks, MN -- home of a new Cabelas catalog showroom. I sure hope they don't have any custom knives on display!
