A few years ago Bob was offering a "kit knife" (might still be making them).

I placed an order in 2008 for one, forgot about it, received a call earlier this year indicating that it was ready.

I pretty much learned to hollow grind in the time that I was waiting (but I didn't want to be one of those customers who cancels orders -as I know a lot of hard work goes into making a knife) -so I paid $150 for it.

It arrived ground, heat treated and had the scales attached. I shaped the scales and made a vertical carry kydex sheath for it. I also modified the guard as it originally had a more square looking section towards the blade.

Aside from a few scratches in the blade from the kydex sheath, and 3 marks from my Rockwell tester (tested at HRC 62) on the other side, this knife would work very well for a deer hunter.

The knife takes and holds an excellent edge:
