Just recieved 2 Dozier knives from AG Russell and there awsome!I had held out for a while because of the prices but I can say there worth every penny.I bought a Master hunter and a Slim outdoorsman.I can't wait tell hunting season, maybe I will get lucky and try them out.

Good score James. Bob makes some of the best knives out there in my opinion. I have carried and used Bob's K-4 straight hunter for over three years and it is my favorite knife. I edc it until about two months ago , the sheath broke. Did you get the bone handle or the rucarta handle? How do you like the horizontil sheath? Hopefully you will use them before hunting season. I feel that Bob's knives are well worth the money and they beg to be used.

Congrats Patrick! The Slim Outdoorsman was my 1st custom knife. I own several custom knives and when hunting season rolls around, I always go to my SO. It's just special.:D Bob makes some great knives.

The master hunter has coral Rucarta and the slim outdoorsman has natural Rucarta.I don't know the differrents between Rucarta and Micarta, looks the same to me.The sheaths are perfect and fit like a glove.I like the idea of the horizontil sheath, but I'm a little afraid of the knive getting bumped and falling out.I'm going to order a couple of folder this week from Dozier.I recommend checking out his web site and forum. There a gentelman on his forum that has pic's of his collection of Bob Dozier folders thats out of this world.I bet I will have more than a few, as quick as I can get them.Patrick James

They are great knives. I have a Straight Personal and a Yukon Pro Skinner and they're among my favorites. I certainly plan to get more. BTW micarta is rucarta when A.G. Russell sells it :). Ru (-ssell) + (mi-) carta.

1st Dozier was a Agent with Ivory Micarta. Then got a Dozier Classic with Ironwood, Ebony, and Red Micarta spacers.

I have a K19, Arkansas Traveler, Delta Traveler, Personal Utility, and K2. So far, I like the K2 the best. Good stuff! Can't wait for the summer, we always have a hog roast for our family reunion, that K19 is going to get used!

Halfneck,is the Dozier classic a user?sounds like a beautiful knife.one of the main things I like about Dozier are there sharp, and stay sharp.I have not ordered straight from Dozier, but I have heard there is a 1 year wait.Hope they don't end up like Randall made knives.I want Dozier to make me a one of a kind knife, any suggestions?I was thinking a long the lines of the KS-7 wilderness knife with stag or ivory handle.I also like some of the different colored micarta .To many choices
thanks PatrickJames

I've been playing around with a Dozier K2 (on loan). Plans are to use it this fall on (with luck) moose, bear, and caribou, or if we get really lucky, buffalo. First impressions: this is one of the most elegant, useful and well-put-together blades I've had the pleasure to come across. The D-2 steel seems to have a bite similar to VG10. It's large enough for serious chores like peeling a moose (although the micarta grip could be larger, but it is well-shaped nonetheless), but compact enough to carry conveniently. The horizontal sheath wouldn't be my first choice, but it holds the blade very securely and is quite unobtrusive. It's practically invisible under a sweater, and one day at the office I forgot I had it on my belt after I took the sweater off. Either the folks at the office didn't notice, or, this being the Yukon, wearing a belt knife is just considered normal. I saw the premier one day chatting with a guy in the Legislature building who was wearing a large skinning knife. No one so much as blinked.

Dozier made, first class all the way!

patrickjames - I had ordered the Dozier Classic as a user. Taken it camping all of once, so its seen minimal use. Just always end up grabbing my Fallkniven F1. Had thought about selling/trading it as I don't like to get cluttered with safe queens. Bought mine for around mid $300 range and the prices just keep going up. While I would not hesitate to use it, I have several other knives that I can grab that can do the job. For now my Dozier Classic sits next to my Lile and Randall. I'd kick myself if I sold it and then a few years later they were selling for double.

Only when it is produced to my order. In the catalog we tell which is and is not.

I bought mine from A.G. Russell because delivery is quick. But if you want something straight from the Dozier shop, the latest word on the Dozier forums is there's a 7 -8 month wait for fixed blades now, not a year. Give 'em a call.

Dozier in general has a wide variety of sheaths. I'll be interested in your comments vs the Master Hunter which has a very different grip.

I've seen that little Wharncliff model Bob is offering recently and really like that one. I had a Whittler, Personal and White River Skinner also but have since given two of those away, one to my son and one to my brother in law. Wish I'd kept them now because to get one actually ground by Bob now is a lot more iffy and expensive than when I got mine. I got mine from A.G. also. The Personal was the first knife I bought from him in person at his store in Arkansas. I understand the new ones are stamped differently and made by Dan and not Bob. Is that true?

I have got a Streight Personal with coral micarta, an Arkansas Toothpick, a Professional Guide. When I ordered my custom Model 6 with ivory micarta they said it would be about 4 months before Bob could get to it.

With the exception of Fahrman, Bob Dozier puts some of the sharpest blades in the market out of the box. Fahrman blades are just as sharp as Bob's but quite a bit bigger then the Bob Dozier knives.

Ciao

Bob also makes some first rate kydex sheaths but for my stag personal I had Paul Long (sheathmaker on the forums) do me up one in leather with small alligator skin inlay.
