All my Doziers go to an xtra fine grit diamond bench stone. Bob personally recommends the Eze Lap model. I use this and a DMT, whichever is handy at the moment. Although the D2 that Bob uses is treated to 61 rockwell, the monocrystalline embedded diamonds will remove the steel without much problem.

Fine solution Nakano. At home I use a set of paper wheels (8") the rough one covered occassionally with diamond powder paste. (got it from the Pokish flea market folks many years ago and have a supply). The fine wehel is coated with a green polishing stick.

Many thanks to all for your advice. I ended up calling the shop. Turns out that not too much is available until after an October show. So I got an Arkansas Traveller, and will be looking for a larger hunting knife in another month or so. Or sooner if I call AG.....

This AT is a beauty! The fit and finish and workmanship is better than I was expecting, and I wasn't aiming low. I'm amazed at how sharp it is, and the "heft" that it has. It already has proven it's edge holding, which I was expecting to be very good. I'm impressed!

Wonderful knife, it's my new edc. I really like the brown micarta with a weave pattern. Wow. I see what you "Dozier-ites" mean. Now I can't wait for a skinner...
