Good luck with the Dozier's, but congrat's on the retirement.
I, as of November, am retired myself, it's great. All of my knives are sharp now that I have time to keep them that way.
I have 4 Dozier's, so far! The one that by far sees the most use on a daily basis is my straight personal. I also have a slim outdoorsman, an arkansas toothpick and a model-6. The latter two are more suited to being a self-defense type. The SP and SO are both fine game and outdoor knives. I like the SP best, it is simply a cutting machine.
The Personal Ute is usually within arm's reach.
It disappers on my belt. I really like this knife
Another thing to consider is that if you don't find the handle to your liking, I don't think you'll have a hard time selling it, so you could try another.
I'm sure you will like it. My Straight Personal is a favourite, but then I have small-medium sized hands.
My Dozier is still tied for first place in terms of sharpness.
