I just got a "forester" model knife from Doug (DPKnives) and am really enjoying it -- so I thought I'd show it off a bit.
The sheath was made by Ilbruche and is absolutely top notch. I've admired his work and jumped at the chance to have him make one up.
I saw Doug's knife in the Maker's For Sale Area and thought I'd try it out. I realized I didn't have a true 'bushcrafter' type knife and "needed" one.
At least that's what I told my wife.
The knife is solidly made and came fairly sharp. Of course I had to dress the edge a bit--used some wet/dry paper and thin foam pad to convex the edge and finished with a strop. Hair popping.
Since this is W&SS I thought I'd add the obligatory fuzz stick shot. Man but this knife can cut.
All told, I am very happy with the knife and sheath. My heartfelt thanks to Doug and Bruce for their fine work.
This package is definitely not as inexpensive as a Mora; but I'd encourage y'all, my fellow knife and outdoor enthusiasts, to try one of our forum knifemakers' blades if you haven't done so already. There is a real pleasure is using a handmade knife that someone built with care. And what a fantastic industry to be a part of.
