I just got a "forester" model knife from Doug (DPKnives) and am really enjoying it -- so I thought I'd show it off a bit.

The sheath was made by Ilbruche and is absolutely top notch. I've admired his work and jumped at the chance to have him make one up.

I saw Doug's knife in the Maker's For Sale Area and thought I'd try it out. I realized I didn't have a true 'bushcrafter' type knife and "needed" one.

At least that's what I told my wife.

The knife is solidly made and came fairly sharp. Of course I had to dress the edge a bit--used some wet/dry paper and thin foam pad to convex the edge and finished with a strop. Hair popping.

Since this is W&SS I thought I'd add the obligatory fuzz stick shot. Man but this knife can cut.

All told, I am very happy with the knife and sheath. My heartfelt thanks to Doug and Bruce for their fine work.

This package is definitely not as inexpensive as a Mora; but I'd encourage y'all, my fellow knife and outdoor enthusiasts, to try one of our forum knifemakers' blades if you haven't done so already. There is a real pleasure is using a handmade knife that someone built with care. And what a fantastic industry to be a part of.

Yep. I have 2 of Doug's knives. He makes good shapr stuff! And it goes without saying that Bruce is a fantastic talent. He has made several things for me and I have him in mind anytime I want more leather.

And it worked

Doug makes some really nice stuff. That sheath really brings out the blade (as good sheaths always do). Great stuff. Thanks for the post!

Yeah Doug sure does make excellent stuff and he's a great guy. I love my DP Woodsman with Leopard wood scales!

Doug did the second and fourth knife in the pic at the same time and gave me my choice of some options.

His stuff is great and he is a truly nice, sincere person to work with. His knives are worth checking out and a great value.

Rotte Boy that knife looks good in leather, makes me wish I had time to do leather. Enjoy that knife. Doug

Doug --

Bruce gets all the credit for the leather, I just asked for a pouch-style sheath. But I agree that as a package, the knife and sheath are really nice. Thanks again and keep making useful knives!

That bloodwood drop point looks fantastic. (I'm a sucker for a drop point.)

WOW!

Those look pretty awesome. Nice pic!

Thanks, kgd. I forgot to grab that chunk of wood when I left - it was at the range and I had a nice setting sun to work with. That was one of chunk of dense hardwood and I didn't get to ID it. I wanted to see what it was and it was gone when I got back.

Thanks, Rotte. That actually is becoming a favorite of the group.

Love that Knife.:D

Doug. Haven't seen many in the for sale lately.

I am trying to work on orders for Christmas, the problem is I have been sick all week and all I want to do is sleep. Not good for getting them done. Doug

Sorry to hear that Doug, Hope you get it whipped and enjoy Xmas. Have a good one.
