Dpx Gear Hest

I absolutely love my HEST/F Urban—the size, heft, clip, blade shape, bottle opener and the steel. Tempted by the Leggaro.

If you like the looks of it, you’ll probably enjoy having one.

Have 2 of ESEE’s fixed blade HEST and one HEST 2.0 folder that I can’t find!!!! 2 guys at work bought the folders and both love them. They are very hard on there’s and no issues. I really like the fixed blade versions for EDC when I’m out in urban or wood environments. They are thick so not the best slicers but I carry a small slip joint or a Swiss army recruit so that’s my main slicer. I don’t really drink so bottle opener is useless on the folder but does work great to open it like Emerson’s wave.
 
I have used both the hest and heat as daily carrys. I also carry a sak. I really like both dpx knives. I have used them for digging a recess in wood for a new doorbell to slicing a subway sub up for my kids and everything in between. Have had the roto lok, lock on me a few times on the hest. I would buy again.
 
I’d pick up another Urban if they figured out how to make the US-made Urban an Italian-style Leggarro. The Heat is a little small and the Hest a little big.
 
I had a HEAT before. Had issues with lock stick and the clip gets loose easily. Its nice and compact and the blade stock is thick. Sold it. Also had a HEST 4” fixed knife. The knife looks good but its not comfortable to use at all. The tang is milled out though so can keep some stuff in the handle. I gifted this knife to my son.
As quality goes, they are excellent IMO, its just that they are not for everyone. Its best to handle and try it out before purchase. I also have a M2 Lionsteel in D2. Now this is a comfortable small fixed knife.
