DPX HEAT: This may be absurd but...

Gents,

I'll keep it simple. Does the bottle opener work well? All I want is a decent pocket knife I can clip into my back pocket that I can use to open a beer. The knife stuff I do will be limited to packages, letters, etc. I like the looks of the HEAT, and I already purchased a newer Shuffle, but it's sticky and cheep and frankly it seems disposable and I don't like carrying it. Please don't tell me your (well intentioned) ideas of carrying a bottle opener on my keychain or what-have-you (The sublime SAK's included). A knife it must be.

My bic lighter is light years faster. (Leverage baby!) But my DPX has the bad@$$ "he used an effin' knife to open that!" Appeal. Not going to lie, it takes two-three well placed pry's to open a bottle with the knife. Until you drink several, and start using the titanium liner as you would a lighter to pop the cap.....

This! Pretty much any folder will work great for a top-popper if you don't mind scratching it up a bit.

And don't get me wrong. The bottle opener is nice, and I have used it several times. The wire stripper "thumb jimpping" works 90% of the time on wire. The lanyard hole fits a hex bit. nice if you have a pocket toolbox. Etc. Best of all, the designer is known around these parts..... It Ain't good. But the knife, I enjoy it, and the ingenuous features. But mostly since they make it in titanium framelock, for a LEFT handed used!!!

** Just realized you asked about the Heat... I own a lefty Hest. So forget the hex lanyard tube and wire strippers. My bad.

I just recently acquired a DPX Heet. I haven't used the bottle opener yet but the knife is sturdy. A good solid construction.

GEC Beer Scout works great! Or check out K'roo, willemokelly on Instagram if you'd like something to suit your needs perfectly. I didn't need or want a blade with my opener and wanted something a bit different. I'm waiting for my "Chunky Drunk" to arrive.
