DPX HEST 2.0 vs ZT 0550

Thanks, Mantzao and Peroni,
My 0550 is a super-knife. The craftsmanship is evident and I'm very pleased. It is aboug 8 1/16" long when opened and blade-length is ~ 3 9/16" long. It's a tremendously solid knife. Smooth opening and closing; no blade-lock of any kind. Lock-bar easy to move over for unlocking. Nice four-way pocket clip. It's a knife I'll carry very often in Levis, although probably would not carry if office-wear as is a bit heavy for that. However, you could use it to pry hinge-pins out of doors in case you forgot your office keys...
I like it. I expect to keep it. Longer and not as blocky as my BenchMade 755 MPR. Very high quality product, with Hindered design.

As Mantzao said, would enjoy seeing this knife in shrink-wrap, with 3" blade and lightened considereably. Of course, then it's be an XM-18.

Good to hear that you're happy with your 0550 Sonny. It's always nice when something lives up to, or exceeds, expectation...

Regarding a 3 inch version, I'm not sure what the sales ratios are of 3.5":3.0" XM-18's but I reckon a bunch of us appreciate knives of those smaller dimensions for EDC even with out the BS laws/legal restrictions. For those who have to endure the BS legal restrictions this would make a 3 inch version even more appealling.

If ZT were to make an 0540? 0530? i.e. smaller than 0550 I'd bet money that it'd sell like hot-cakes (and I'm not a betting man!)

Oh well, we can dream (oh, and enjoy our other knives in the meantime!!) ;)

i have a 0551 and i'm kind of thinking about trading it for something less valuable, and i was considering the HEST 2.0, but i was wondering how the notch in the blade works as a bottle opener.

It usually takes me two goes to get the bottle top off but it works okay, not perfectly but okay...

My HEST 2.0 is due to arrive tomorrow. We just had a tropical storm here in Florida, and Jacksonville area got hit pretty hard so my knife might take an extra day to get through that postal area. Once it does arrive, I'll be able to compare it to my ZT 0550 and pick a favorite. The HEST is a bit lighter, which wouldn't be a bad thing. OTOH, the blade thickness of the HEST is greater and won't likely be as good a slicer.
