I am wanting a new heavy duty folder to carry. I was wanting your guys opinion on which one and a reason why. I like the DPx Hest 2.0 or the ZT 0700 but am open to other options under $185.

I like my hest 2.0. No lock up problems I like the blade shape better and Its a lot easier to sharpen than a tanto blade. It's a solid little folder. Not a huge amount blade length but it has a pretty good cutting edge. The green g10 and stone washed Ti makes it a pretty sweet looking knife. They use D2 for the blade run at a pretty high hc like 60-62. This makes the D2 really stand out. I like my hest, and it's usually one I bring camping for harder such use. Plus is it open beer bottles anything that helps me open my beer is +1 in my book!

Hest 2.0 all the way. They are both quality knives with great warranties from good companies. But, that 0700 is just hideous and not comfortable in the hand- to me. The Hest is great in the hand and a dream to carry.

Just got a HEST 2.0 yesterday and the thing is a beast. Immediately switched to the blue kryptoglow scale too.

I am also going to have to give the nod to the HEST 2.0!

I am a huge Kershaw fan but I can't say I am a big fan of the 0700. I love my HEST and the only knock I can currently give it is the phosphorous coating on the blade which seems to pick up scuffs from opening thin plastic. But a nice blast, polish and stone wash to match the Ti side would really make it pop or even a new black coating that can stand a little more abuse.

Save up another $20 or so and get a ZT 0550:thumbup:

This. I'd take a 0550 over a HEST 2.0 all day long and you can still find them for less than $200 on the exchange here (and you can find the 0551s for just a tiny bit more if you're in the right place at the right time).

The 0700 isn't really a similar knife to the HEST at all though, so it's not a really good comparison (I'd probably take a HEST over the 0700).

Then there is the slightly cheaper - but larger - Benchmade 275BK Adamas. It's 'tactical drop-point' black D2 blade is 3.82" x .160" and is secured by a healthy AXIS lock or stowed between two SS liners with brown or black G10 scales. The blade has a jimped thumb ramp on it's spine, and comes with a malice clip equiped nylon sheath.

The HEST/f 2.0 is nice - and represents half of my Lion Steel collection. I just like the BM Adamas a bit better.

Of course, if you can afford a ZT-0551, it's the deal... hands down!

If you look at the 550 (they can be had new for the same price as the HEST if you know where to look) just try and hold them both first. They were the 2 main choices for me when I got my HEST. I bought it without handling either first and after messing with the 550 later, I am SO glad I went with the HEST. I just don't care for the feel of the ZT, good knife though it is.

I just looked it up, and is the HEST 2.0 now G10 only on the scale-side (no more steel liner like the HESt 1.0)? If so, that's disappointing - it was one of the things that made me want to buy a HEST over something like the LionSPy.

go to howesknifeshop.com hest 2.0 for a lot cheaper than the link provided 2 posts up

I have the 2.0 and the Adamas like above, The H.E.S.T. 2.0 is a good knife. It just kicked the Rukus out of my pocket that was EDC'ed everyday for two and a half years. I have to get some of those blue scales. I really like them.
