in a section of Bladeforums called "Knife reviewing & Testing" I would expect some reviewing and testing...

but I'm kinda silly like that!

it became a favorite since the day it arrived
of course, it looks very good :D, the blade coating gives an old look to it, and also the treatment on the Ti side of the handle ;
Overall the knife feels very solid,is comfortable in hand, allows a variety of grips, and has features that I really like having in a folder, like the glass breaker and the bottle opener :cool: , even though the chances for the breaker to be used are low, is good to know is there in case of an emergency
I carried the knife IWB for the last days, somewhere around 3 o'clock, which is my favorite method of carry folders, and it never bothered me in any way, because is not very beefy, and not very long ; carries deep because of the clip, but still easy to get out with the help of the cool lanyard included
I didn't cut much with it, , simply because there was no need for that, just sliced some paper, opened a few plastic bags, and some food...
I love the accessories , the lanyard with the excellent realized bead, and the skull tool, which rides in my pocket now, and the SAS tin container is a nice touch to the whole package

How easily is the lock bar disengaged? Is the detent strong? Is the edge ground pretty thin or left thick like an XM-18?

the lock bar needs a firm push to disengage, harder than a liner lock like the spyderco military, something like the force needed to push a Buck 110 back lock to close the knife
I don't have another framelock to compare, nor the Hinderer XM-18 to compare the edge thickness, but I can say is ground like the original HEST fixed blade, maybe 1mm or less right behind the edge
the detent is very strong, stronger than the millie, and the later is plenty strong to be safe

yes, they are teflon, very smooth opening and closing, nevertheless I would preferred PB washers, but I will change them in time

Nice pics.

That jimping looks a bit painful - how is it when doing some hard cutting?

I believe the Military has a 4mm thick blade stock, is the HEST folder around 5mm? thanks for any and all replies.

are these knives actually for sale anywhere?

LE's you'll only be able to find on the secondary market.

The production version, you'll need to get on the waiting list at one of the dealers. You'll most likely have to wait for the 2nd batch, but you may get lucky.
