DPX HEST Picture Thread

I have to admit, and I know you guys will burn me at the stake for my statement, I do not like this knife. I'm not saying it isn't a functional blade or wouldn't be perfect for someone else. I'm just saying that I don't personally care for it. Since we saw the first pictures of the protos, I have been pretty sceptical. I kept it to myself until I had a chance to handle it, just in case my hand liked it more than my eyes. In my opinion, it just doesn't feel right and there is too much going on. I can understand why RYP designed it the way he did and I know the use of each feature, but I just don't like it. It doesn't mean I'm going to advise someone else not to buy it, it just means that it's not right for MY hand and MY needs. I'm still looking forward to seeing everyone's reviews.

Burn him!!! Kidding. On a serious note, I believe Jeff has stated that he would much rather you use a knife that works for you rather than using one that doesn't just cause it has his company logo on it. I'll get one eventually because I like the way it looks, but no one's gonna fault you for not getting one. Hell, they let me hang here and I don't even own one RAT product yet.

I started out not really liking it but I'm starting to foam at the mouth for one. I might dislike it when I get it but I'm pretty sure I'll like it.

I like the RC-4 sheath and this one is comparable, I like the fact that it's the size of the RC-3 but thicker, and it looks like I can use it as a bottle opener......Perfect!

I was so skeptical about this knife, and then I got to actually use it, it's an amazing tool for sure

I was not a big fan of the HEST but the little thing is starting to grow on me... I am still not sure about the little tit (pry bar thingy) at the back of the handle I'll just hafta wait and see !

Pry Bar...? I though that was a toothpick! :D

I am with Dylside on this one. I am sure its a great knife for what it was designed for, but I have no real reason yet to need to E&E. Its a great fantasy, but I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Point well taken yet I dont think one plans to be on the E&E list :D

True, but I live a normal life where I don't put myself into dangerous situations on a daily basis. If I needed to bug out, my izula and RC4 could easily be taken with me. But, I see your point, one never knows when things might take a turn for the worst.

Hmm, I have both an RC-4 and an Izula. The HEST seems like it fits between both of these knives (with the added awesome handle storage, that is just plain awesome!). If I didn't have both these knives already, I would for sure pick up the HEST.

I will most likely get the HEST i most likely don't NEED one but it seems like a fun knife to have. I don't need most of my knives as i am sure my RC-5 and Izula or even my leatherman can handle most tasks i need done. I like RAT and will do what i can to support them by buying their knives.
