I picked up a used ROWEN DPX HEST and wanted to breath a little life into it by personalizing it. One theme I have been blown away with is the "Dr. Jones" patina.
Here is my take on the Dr. Jones HEST

Before

After

Basically an etched, stripped, stone washed, convexed, and corrosion treated HEST.

I love these knifes and can't wait to finish my HEST/F version

What steel is it and what did you do for corrosion resistance?
Oh and the knife looks sweet!

Its 1095 tool steel, I warmed it up with a heat gun and bathed it in Frog Lube. This technique has worked great with many of my other tool steel knifes in the past. I have also frog lubed my Glocks and after numerous river crossings experienced zero corrosion. Frog Lube is great stuff and FDA approved.
