Just discovered this company and after seeing the HEST 2.0, I want one.

My question is, does anyone own one or know if they're a good company? Any quality control issues? How's their warranty?

DPx does not manufacture the knives. They have used at least two different manufacturers in the past. I suggest using the search function as that would give you lots of info.

i had one but got rid of it right away, its just not my taste and i had trouble with the lock, but thats not to say they all do.

I own one and the quality IMO is above the price...Great steel and a great knife. No problems with the lock or anything else...mine arrived extremely sharp and stays sharp. Liner lock is stiff as to be expected from such a folder but it does "wear" in and it's not a problem unless the user has weak hands. Lock up is rock-solid and mine has yet to develop any distinguishable play whatsoever. Definitely recommend it.

I've sharpened a few and first impressions are high quality with good steel and heat treatment. The frame lock is solid and the F&F is on par with its price. I was not a fan of the grip and the blade has a overly thick grind that will make the sharpened bevel larger and more difficult to sharpen. The sharpening choil IMO will cause lots of hang-up's in cutting due to the blade sweep.

It's a good knife just not one that held my interest for very long.

Had a Gen 1 HEST that developed a lockbar issue... They replaced it (their customer service is outstanding) Got a Gen 2 and havn't had a problem since. I love how the D2 holds an edge, the lock has never been sticky and it's a very smooth opener. It has maintained a 50% lock up since after about the first week. Good knife, good company... Keep an eye out for them on the exchange, they pop up from time to time in the $120 - $135 range for pretty decent specimens.

Hi dcmartin: Hi. I contacted dpx for a problem with my hest/f 2.0 and they told me to send the knife back. Just wondering if you paid for the return shipping, if they sent you a prepaid label, or if they reimbursed you. Thanks.

Have had HESTs for years and think they are great. Pry bars on the fixed; Roto-Lok on the folders. Features worth having. Good steels too.

I'm a fan of DPX GEAR. I have the hest 2.0, T3, hest II assault. Really solid performers. I like the niolox steel as well. Takes a good edge and holds it thru some tough chores. The pry on the fixed blade is brilliant. I think everybody has broken a tip off at least one of their knives doing dopey stuff. The bottle opener doubles as a wickedly effective wave opening feature on the folders. All mine were made by lionsteel and all their (lionsteel) products are top quality.
Also I've never heard of anything but positive reviews on their customer service.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another DPX. Good luck with your search and choice.

I've several of the DPx folders, and a couple fixed, and find them to be top notch, heavy duty knives. Lionsteel builds a great product, for DPx, as well as under their own label.

I really liked the 2 I had.
They're like a slightly less bulky ZT0550.
My first had unbelievable lock stick at first, but it broke in very nicely. 2nd was a mil-spec and was always just right.
My buddy has one with a very sticky, almost gritty lockup.
Not really the best slicing knife because the blade's so thick, but it has it's place.
