Dragon Skin Bowie

I forge welded cable damascus over a 1084 core on this one giving it a dragon skin appearance. The guard and butt cap are from some grainy wrought iron that came from the iron mines of Minnesota. An interesting collection of iron and steel.
Heat treated in my Evenheat furnace to Rc 58-60 with attention to a fine grain in the 1084 steel. The wrought iron is low carbon and will not harden, however it does strengthen the blade and act as a shock absorber.
Flat grind with some forged texture on the flats
Through handle tang that has been peened over the butt cap
Professionally stabilized spalted maple handle
