No more waiting!!!:)
I'm a happy camper, and from now on a Spyderco owner... What a sweeeeet little blade...

I didn't know they made a Dragonfly in H1.
I think that maybe perfect to clip to my camelbak went I go MTB riding.

I decided the lock back wasn't for me. I had known it, but I liked the other features of the dragonfly so much I thought they would overcome it. I put the knife in use today and it was awkward compared to my persistence. The closed size was too small to get a secure grip and the blade deployment was so tight it nearly flipped back on me. Back to Amazon it goes. Maybe a Sage 1 to come.

It wasn't a love affair with me either, so I gifted my still-in-new-condition Dragonfly2 this Christmas. The kicker for me was when I got a FRN UKPK drop-point and loved everything about it more than the Dragonfly2. I know it's a popular knife and I usually agree with the majority favorable opinions, but the Dragonfly2 was not exactly for me.

I bought the Dragonfly 2 with the ZDC steel. When I received it, I thought it was a joke. Way too small, looks and feels cheap. Blade deployment was smooth but too tight for fast opening. Personally, I feel it is way too overpriced for what you get, and in that price range a Kershaw Leek or Ontario RAT model 2 is a better choice. I own the Spyderco Paramilitary 2, and consider it one of their better knives, but this one feels more toyish or maybe a good starter knife for a young kid. The Sanremu GB-704 costs less than $20 and is far superior to this knife for EDC use. So I'm returning it. Too costly for what it is. On a positive note, I do like the thoughtful design of the knife. If Spyderco added some liners or washers and/or a fast bushing in the pivot, and made the knife a bit larger and longer, especially the handle, it would be an excellent EDC. Maybe they can call it the Dragonfly XL.

There are so many pictures and even videos about this knife online, that being surprised and finding it "way too small" is just poor research on your part and not a fault of the knife. Most back-locks don't open any way near as fast as other lock types such as the compression lock on your para 2. With practice and some finger strength it is actually pretty easy to flick open if that's what you're looking for. There really isn't anything "toyish" about it either. You have a right to your opinion, but everything you don't like about the knife is either unsubstantiated or something you should have realized before buying it. You say it "feels cheap", I have put an FRN handled endura through the ringer for 2 years and the handles still look like new after washing it. Too expensive? How many other knives using a super steel like ZDP-189 can be had for a street price of ~$70? The Dragonfly 2 is supposed to be a small lightweight edc oriented knife, and it performs its intended tasks very well imo.

+1 on the df xl. I don't particularly like the feel of the frn handle, but ur sanrenmu can't possibly have zdp189. I don't like frn much, but even so my df is my best and most practical edc. Wish i spent the extra cash and got a g10 model or the fiberglass one(which I think has a definite future in my pocket.) However i think the design is the best small knife design EVER. If you want a cheaper none get a Byrd Robyn g10. Very close without the premium steel and price.

So what your saying is if they completely redesigned the entire thing it would be a good knife? Why not just say you wanted a different knife lol. They dragonfly is one of their best sellers, they must be doing something right. Don't hold your breath waiting on changes...

As for a slightly larger dragonfly, the long disco'd Caly Jr C52 is that knife.

I was thinking the same thing myself.

I got one not to long ago the one with the g10 scales. All tho its really small (I knew that from the get) this little kife is built like a tank....nothing on it feels cheap, at all.
