Any of you guys that have the Dragonfly have any problems with the clip not being secure? Thinking about picking one up but not sure I'm trusting the clip to keep it from slipping out of pocket.

The Dragonfly FRN clip works well. It is, of course, not preferred compared to a metal clip, but it will hold the knife fairly securely. A new Dragonfly in G10 is supposedly coming out eventually... I wouldn't hold your breath as Spyderco seems to have a very lengthy R&D process.

I agree, the FRN clip doesnt seem to secure to me. The size and blade of the dragonfly would make it a great EDC, but I cant seem to get over the clip. I have put a small lanyard on mine and just throw it in my pocket.

I'll assume you're speaking of the FRN Dragonfly because the SS one's are quite secure.

I have a few FRN models and have never had any problems with the FRN molded clip. I actually quite like it. They are not as "tight" on your pocket as the SS Dragonfly clips but they are secure enough.

:)

The FRN clips are fine but its also a small enough knife to be pocketed so its all good

The clip on the FRN Dragonfly works well, but I wouldn't trust such a clip on a bigger knife. That's why all the major manufacturers went to metal clips on FRN handles.

I've had a PE model and now the SE model both FRN has been with me for over 5 yrs. and I've had no problems. If your concerned get the SS model, either way you can't go wrong.

why hasn't spyderco given the FRN dragonfly a removable clip like all the others?

One can only specualte. I'd imagine it hasn't needed one and functions well as stated by others. Also, as mentioned it is due for an update, which was announced but may take some time due to reasons not visible to us outsiders.

What Zen said, plus the possibility the current version may be selling well enough to lower the incentive to invest $40K or more in new tooling.

Of course the D'fly II could debut tomorrow too. It's not like Spyderco hasn't taken us all by surprise before. :D

I love my dragonfly, but it is far to small to clip in my pocket, so the clip is obsolete.. its nothing more than a Key-chain knife for me, like the Lady bug or jester.. Just my opinion..
