Just got a new Dragonfly etched. The pivot is very tight, so it is difficult to open. Also, I think the spring bar in the lockback mechanism is too strong, so it is very difficult to close as well. I bought a whole bunch of spydercos in the last couple months, many of which are lockbacks, this one is by far the most difficult to open and close.

What should I do, send it back to the dealer ? Sending it to Spyderco's customer service ?

Thanks

With simple use it will losen up a bit. Over time infact I'm sure it will losen up quite a bit. But if your looking for something faster. Im sure that Spyderco Customer Service would either fix it or exchange it. You might try the store you got it from (unless it was a online dealer).

As well, welcome to Spyderco Collecting :)

try adjusting the torx pivot screw. i went through and tightened all of the screws on my Copilot the other day and noticed that mine was "loose". i tightened it down only to realize it was virtually impossible to open and close my knife. so, i loosened it back up and my blade was happy again. by loose i don't mean LOOSE. i mean, not snugged all the way down.

check this on yours. it might be the easy solution.

I have noticed that the stainless Spydies are usually pretty tight when new.
A couple of mine benifited from a good blast of WD-40 or something like that followed by some "canned air" and then your lube of choice. A couple of hundred open/close cycles will also help.
