I am new to Spydercos, but I was so impressed with my first, a Dragonfly that I quickly aquired a Caly3 and a Manix.

The Dragonfly is the perfect size for a EDC knife and I never leave home without mine now. The only thing is I hate the FRN handle. Is there anyone out there besides me who would love to see a Dragonfly with a G10 handle and a blade of S30V or VG10??? If so please sound off on this forum or email Spyderco. I can only hope they'll listen and make this great little knife even better.

The etched version is VG-10? :eek: New Graham has them listed as ATS-55, but sure enough, the blades say VG-10. Man, that actually made my day.
 
I hear STR can scale the Dragonfly in G-10. I've been thinking of asking for one in G-11 in some nice color.
 
I liked he drangonfly ok, but like to see a little fatter handle. Did they ever got to change the frn clip on those? That's the only spyderco i've ever lost because of it's crappy clip.
 
I have the Dragonfly FRN SE and love it, I think FRN is a great material. But I will probably also buy the SS with PE.

My birthday is coming up soon, I am going to have to start dropping hints to my family about the etched dragonfly.

Be VERY specific when dropping hints for presents. Many people can't tell the difference between different brands of knives, nevertheless different handle material.
 
If my memory serves me correctly there was a sprint run of a Dragonfly with carbon fiber handle scales and a more upscale blade steel. I've seen them appear regularly on eBay, but also check around New Graham, as sometimes they have some older, more collectable pieces under their Spyderco Limited Editions section. Also, check out the BladeForums selling/trading sections if you're still interested.

i often carry my SS PE dragonfly and i love it. the only complaint i have is that this particular knife would greatly benefit from a tip down clip.

Thanks for the tip. I will have to print out a picture and leave it laying around the house.

Now if I could just figure out the brand of that knife??? :D
 
I just ordered a Dragonfly, FRN w/plain edge. I plan use it for EDC. I've picked up a Endura, Delica, and Ladybug within the last week. This is fast becoming an addiction.
 
I'm very happy with mine. I just picked up a SS Etched version. Prior to this I've always avoided sub 3-inch blades, but have been converted. I'm very happy it is VG-10. To me the handle was unnecessary and took it off.

you took off the handle?
 
I've had a stainless PE DragonFly for about 3-4 years now. It is a really great knife. Love the smaller size and overall quality. I would love a G10 handle in screw construction with liners. Oh yea!
