I need to downsize my EDC knife. I go onto federal sites & was told by security my Delica is technically too long to carry. I was looking at the stainless Dragonfly. Anyone have one? Is the lockup nice & tight? Does it hold-take a good edge?
Thanks.

Super tight, super sharp. I suggest the acid etch version for better grip. Also consider a Lava or Kopa.

I received a stainless Dragonfly about 9 years ago as a gift for being in a wedding. The happy couple is now divorced but the stainless Dragonfly is still going strong. Great lock up, excellent edge retention in the full flat grind ATS 34 blade. Love the ergonomics of the entire knife. Newer blades are VG10. You can't go wrong with the Dragonfly.
Correction: Blade steel is ATS55 not ATS34

The Dragonfly has a molded FRN clip, which I really dislike. I picked up a Lava, and it's a super little knife. If you need a smaller knife that cuts like a big one, pick the Lava.

The FRN Dragonfly does have a molded clip, but the stainless version being discussed has a standard three screw steel clip. ;)

Thanks for all the info. I was just browsing their website, I didnt realise how many different knives they made. Im sure I can find a small folder in their lineup that will fit my needs.
Ive been carrying a Delica I found at a lake many years ago. It has held up to constant use very well.

Edit - How long has Spyderco been putting the little emblem on the blade next to the thumb hole? My Delica doesnt have it & Im curious how old a model it is.
Ive had it for about 5 years. It has black synthetic grip panels with a circular design that says Clipit Delica. Blade is AUS-8 & it was made in Seki City Japan.

The bug on the blade is pretty recent. Is the clip on yours steel or is it molded FRN like the rest of the handle?

Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon. The molded clip identifies it as a first generation piece and AUS-8 blade steel puts it fairly late in the first gen production life. I'd say around 1994, give or take a year or three.

I really like the Dragonfly, and I don't mind the molded clip. I added a lanyard that allows me to slip it on my pinkie for a better grip, and allows me to draw it more efficiently. One of the best little-big knives.

I have one with the molded clip, and I have a hard time keeping it on my pocket throughout the day. For that reason, it usually stays home while I carry other things. I'd recommend the metal clip.
