Dreaded Brine Quench--Need Help

Sounds good.

I use 450°F for the temper, but 425°F will work for a small blade. Test the edge and if it is chippy, re-temper at 435°F . If it is still chippy, try 450°F.

Will do. I was shooting for a little higher hardness than normal seeing how it will only be used on soft tissue.

I am currently attempting my third 2 hour temper @ 425*F, the aluminum is 3/4in thick, I did not shim the blade on the second temper so I used 2 pennies, one at the tip and one at the butt of the handle so I can bend it past straight in the opposite direction. Ill know if it worked around 10:30pm. If it doesn't work will it mean I have to re-do entire heat treat? If it doesn't stay straight this time should I try a 450*F temper for 2 hours using the shims and aluminum plate?
