Dream Revolver

http://www.smith-wesson.com/wcsstore/SmWesson/upload/images/firearms/170280_tripod.jpg

Even though I have a great outdoor/home revolver. Here is my dream hunter revolver which is a bad MOFER. The .460 S&W which can also shoot .454 and .45 colts.

I shoot both a 5 inch with irons and a 8 3/8 with a scope, both shoot extremely well. Recoil is not unpleasant although the muzzle blast is tremendous, you will definitely clear other shooters from your bench. It is also an easy cartridge to reload with either lead or jacketed.

I'd kinda' like to have this one....

A 4" barrel Smith & Wesson 586 with a Hogue Monogrip in a hardwood.

I guess my dream revolver would be a Bowen Nimrod in .45 Colt. Clements makes a great one with the barrel band too.

I'm glad to see this thread because for me this will be the "Summer of Bang." I intend to get a larger handgun, most likely a revolver, most likely used rather than new. I currently have a Ramline Exactor .22 auto (I hate it, but it was a birthday gift many years ago), and want something far better and more serious.

I want a holy grail that will be fun and fairly cheap to shoot recreationally, durable/reliable, but also suitable for protection at home if needed. Concealed carry is less important now, but that maybe something to consider for the future.

Here's what I'm considering, and I'd love some feedback from experienced pistoleros:

Ruger Blackhawk .357 convertible (I love SA's, and this has versatility)

Ruger SP100 or 101 (because of this thread)

Browning or Charles Daly Hi Power (not a wheel gun, but . . .)

Lastly, maybe a Ruger Single Six for fun and a snubby .357 for protection (if I could get the pair cheaply).

You've got some competing purposes/desires. If you want a next purchase which is cheap to shoot, will teach good centerfire marksmenship fundamentals and could proctect you, then I wouild say a Smith 4"/6" 686 or a 4"/6" Ruger GP100 would be good for you. Worry about a carry piece later, like a sp101 once you've learned basics.

As for the convertible Blackhawk, I love em, except I would get it in 45ACP/Colt.... just because :)

Im really digging my latest wheel gun a Ruger Super Redhawk Alaskan 454.
Now I want the other cool Alaskan monster revolver the Dan Wesson Alaskan Guide 445. http://www.cz-usa.com/data/productimg/main078.png
My first handgun at 17 yo was a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 mag, still have it and have always loved big DA revolvers.

My long time lust for a nice Colt Python will eventually come to fruition too.

Heres the little Ruger beast... http://www.impactguns.com/store/media/ruger_sup_redhawk_alaskan.jpg:cool:

one i own and one i don't.

i own: Ruger bird's head Vaquero in 45 colt.

i don't: Ruger speed six .357 in blue.

I have the security six 3" in blue though....fairly close :)

I have mine. It was my Father's S&W model 19 with a 4" barrel. Smoothest action DA/SA I've ever felt. Its 48 years old. I only shoot 38 specials with it. High pressure .357 are a tough on a K frame.

Yeah, I know I have competing desire going on here. The 4" Ruger in .357 would be the practicle choice and closest to doing everything. I sure would like an SA though.

Nothing wrong with a 4 inch for carry either, I carry an N frame everyday strong side and a Detective Special cross draw weak side.

i have three dream revolvers and all of them are single actions...
