CPM 4V will handle just about anything that would be reasonable in that size of a knife while having good edge retention and still being easy to maintain.

I just profiled a 12" overall knife from .220" Spectrumwear with a Portaband on a stand. No fun.

Basically a more stainless Cruwear?

Nice brother. I was looking into that stuff but wasn't sure if it could push the low 60s

AKS says in the description that it was pushing 59 hrc.

so I held off on it.


If I could get that stuff to 63-64 hrc that would be amazing.

I'm so old school =o( .... I still prefer 1095 and/or 5160. Its steel I know and trust, I can maintain it/sharpen it easily, its never let me down and always done all I asked of it...I just don't NEED the new super steels for what I encounter day to day
