Got my daughter a Spydie Dragonfly Tattoo for Christmas which was suggested on BF by Brad Greulich and others. My son-in-law loves his Benchmade Grippy that I got him a few years ago, but I'd like to get him a thinner dressier knife for Sunday. Any suggestions? Keep it under $100.

The Bob T Slipit can be had for under $100, and not a bad choice. You could also go for the Sage I.

You could get him a nice Case or Queen knife for under $100. Probably a Kershaw Leek too.

I'm a bit spoiled. My SMF is the CC version with a stonewashed blade and lockbar. I wear that for dressing up or down. :o Before that I used a Mcusta (~$100) or a Sage II (~$170) as my "dress" knife. You might also be able to find the T-Mag (~$70) on the exchange. Note that the T-Mag is non-locking.

Mcustas are great knives, and look dressy. Around $80-$95 for the Basics.

The Spyderco Kopas are being discontinued, and some sites sell the carbon fiber one for $77 now.

Likewise, the Spyderco Kiwi in carbon fiber runs for around $64, but it doesn't have a pocket clip...

The Spyderco Caly 3 is also a great choice, but is $11 over your $100 limit...

Kershaw Gentleman's Folder. About $83. No clip, but comes with an open-top leather sheath...

If orange is appropriate, the Kershaw zing is small but quick and capable, the blade is also very different

i wish my family had the money to do things like this. i also wish my parents were ok with my knife obsession but then again im the first one they go to for a knife. then my brother :) and hes older hehe

The Kershaw leek is slim and a very sweet knife. Are you looking for something with or without a pocket clip?

Needs a pocket clip. He will be carrying this knife in dress pants and for me at least, I have problems with clipless blades falling out of dress pants pockets. Some of these ideas are looking good.

An interesting and thoughtful dress folder could be a Kershaw Groove with Phillip Dobson wood scales..... nothing says I care like some fine Desert Ironwood :D

At the suggestion of JNieporte and others I ordered a new in box Spyderco Kopa carbon fiber off of ebay for $74.99 with free shipping. Thanks to all!

The Doug Ritter Paul folder in S30V is quite striking looking. I have one of these. Small, very much a gentleman's knife but tough enough to actually get down with if the need were to arise. Its a wonderful little folder.
