Drill bit recommendation?

Cleveland Twist cobalt jobbers from Mcmaster Carr are what I use for metal.

Sutton cobalt Jobber in 135 split point for general metal work .

For hard material , carbide Sutton VA Black Magic .

For all the norseman voters, are these the Norseman magnum special hi-moly tool steel bits? They seem to work very well in certain stainless steels according to my readings on the web. When Norseman drills are recommended, are these the drills that folks are talking about. Thanks

These were the ones that were supposed to be the same as "Viper" on this video. Actually a pretty good review

I have been wanting a good full set of bits. Based on the recommendations of the folks here, I decided on Norseman bits. Reading on machining forums they have very good reputation and are a good value. It didn't hurt that I found a guy with great pricing on all Norseman bits. I'd post the info here but feel that I would be reprimanded. Thanks again for the help.

I suggest purchasing U.S made cobalt bits at MSC. A full set will cost a lot. Learn to sharpen them by hand (most knife makers have belt grinders with fine belts). Or buy a "Drill Doctor".

I like the Norseman.

Is there a place to get a hold of the Norseman drill bits by single pieces or small packages?

I have been needing some new drill bits, but can't seem to find single pieces when I search for norseman drill bits.

I can't even contact Norseman because I get an error when I click on the contact page link...

Well I went cheap, I know, I know, you get what you pay for. But I was reading some reviews on some cobalt bits made in China from Harbor Freight. 115 set for $99. When I bought them I thought I will probably regret it. I used them for the first time yesterday had 2 pieces of metal that when put together equaled right at 1/2 inch (Was making a file guide for the ricasso). Took my time used some oil drilled a couple of 3/16th holes actually very easy. Verdict still out, but already better then the "Box store" bits I have used. Examined the bit after drilling, looked and felt as sharp as when I began. I have a drill Dr. if ever they dull. I know they won't do stainless or harden steel. But mild, or annealed steel does not seem to be a problem.
