A fellow at work asked me if the tang on his 119 went all the way to the end of the handle. he would like todrill the pommel for a lanyard but he is afraid he'll wreck it if he hits the tang.any suggestions appreciated. thanks
Here's an old illustration of the fixed blades. You can see that the tang extends into the pommel. You can see the pin that is used to attach the pommel to the tang. You should be able to see it on the one in question so be careful not to hit that if you try it.
I know I've seen them drilled and I'm sure someone who has done it will show up here to give you the real scoop on the procedure. From what I can see of mine, the pin is closer to the spacer that is shown in the old illustration.
All the ones that I have seen drilled were at the lower tip of the pommel as in the photo of the 124 in the link below; that should pretty much avoid contacting the tang.
