ok here's whats going on, i have a 12 inch drill press that someone recommended getting a new chuck for to keep it nice and "true" now i know someone who has a surplus of jacobs chucks and this one was a steal, butin order to have it work i needed a new arbor, so i need to order one i think#2 morse to a #2 JT i have it all figured out now, and as far as going with the 1/4" chuck, i couldn't really think of much over 1/4" that i'd be drilling anyway, and if needed i have my old 1/2" chuck and arbor to throw on (not that it would be really "true" but i can always do some pilot holdes first of course to help out ) so basically all i need to do it buy my arbor and im done. but my question was; is the chuck the only thing needed to help "true" up your drill press? of are there other parts i can order to make it a little more stable, and precise? thanks again guys
