Drill through hardened steel

The drill bits sound very interesting. A 5 piece set might be useful.

The fact that the only way to buy them is to go to a show and listen to
sales pitch demonstration rings very, very many alarm bells.

I've had a set of these for about 15 years. They're pretty neat. Don't use them very often, but they can be handy.

Mostly, because I'd rather be drilling something in an annealed or normalized state.

If it's something like drilling through a hidden tang, I'd prefer the tang be soft enough that I can drill it with a HSS or cobalt bit.

Also these things hog a hole.... not exactly the precision you come to expect from drilling and reaming.

Most of the time, if you've done your homework, then a bit like this isn't really necessary in a knife shop.

But sometimes we screw up and then something like this is real handy. :)

I got mine at the Puyallup fair here in Washington... our state fair... and it IS impressive to see a booth full of things like 14" files full of holes. :D

Very impressive. Im sold but i would need to come to the states to get a set. Im looking into it asap.
