When drilling the pin holes for the handle of a tapered tang blade, do you drill them before you taper the tang??? Thanks and take care! Michael

Definitly drill the holes before tapering the tang.

I've drilled some tapered tangs without problems: I put them in a machinist vise (the clamp of my drill press). The jaws of this vise are slotted (V shape), when the tang is inserted, it's allways pushed in the center. This makes drilling the holes a piece of cake.
