Hello fellas, this is my first post, and yes I'm a nookie at knife making. I recently was advised to purchase some 30V stainless. Bought it, profile ground, sent to heat treat, now here is where my ignorance to knife making comes in. I have ground the bevels, hand sanded the blade to desired finish, but I can't drill holes for pins to save my life!! It's just too HARD!! I'm thinking of taking a torch to the areas where pins will be drilled, but I fear of heat transfer and ruining my heat treat over on the blade. Advice please fellas. Thanks corey

Two choices Corey. Buy carbide bits or anneal it, drill your holes and send it back to heat treat.

The above advice is good.

BTW,I suspect you are both a noobie and a rookie, but not the combines word nookie ... you might want to change that ;)
