Drilling the liner...

Since southpaw versions of the BUCK Strider folders are not available, I was contemplating simply reversing the thumb lug and then drilling and tapping into the opposite scale/ liner for pocketclip installment. Q: Is the liner heat treated to a point where carbide bits will not go thru them? Are cobalt bits required? If not, then what? Thanks.

actually the screws (in mine anyway...) protrude into a round cut out area, and therfore screw only into G10, not the liner - i tried to drill the liner on a CRKT (w/a hand drill but good bits) and didnt have a lotta luck, maybe ya can do better - but the liner is solid, not cut out, on the reverse side, so ya will have to get thru the liners .....

Agreed. And securing onto the G10 scale alone is quite flimsy. Anyone else have real experience with the liners' hardness?

agreed it does sound flimsy, but no probs yet w/mine anyway - i was skeptical at first, believe me - but, so far, so good - but was suprised on a heavy duty design like the B/S, ya woulda thought they woulda drilled the liners for the clip screws, imho anyway...
