Drinking coffee in the forest and looking at some "new" knifes.

Bosse, Great post. Thank you, I am now hungry and I want to go to the woods. That is a wonderful kit for your coffee,I really like the fact that it is made from natural materials and not from some kind of plastic.

As for myself I have bouth Lingon, Blueberrys, redberries, strawberries, cloudberrys, wineberrys among with moosemeat, sheep, pig and fish in my 2 freezers....I also grow potatoes, carrots etc for the winterhalf of the year. I hope to make a little crowndeer and capercalsie also before the season is ower.

Food is a big intrest of mine

You don't say?! :D ;)

Sadly my being away with work had meant I've missed out on some of the good stuff in my area. Only Rowan berry and sloes to be had now I reckon. The blackberries are well past their best.

Yes, the few remaining blackberries are sour now. Plenty of elderberries though, and hawthorn of course :)

Great post....gives me thought on how life should be. Great picture.

I've been on a number of forums, and this one for a number of years. I love how international BF's is.

Like everyone else, I love the woodenware. The best stuff is the stuff that you (or someone you love) makes!

Thanks for the post. :)

I promissed to come back in this thread to show my kåsa a little more.
As you see it has a rounded bottom folloving the form of the piese of wood its made from. Makes it strong and not prone to cracking from hot drinking.
Show it togeter with the EKA 22 H from 1965-66. I have mow used it for a few weeks so the blade have darkened a little. Hard good steel in this one.

As you see its cold here in Jämtland now but just frost and no snow.

The last picture is from the moose post millarya. Me and my brother made the tover in the early 90ties but now 20 years later Im sitting on the ground again. I have shooten 2 mooses on this post, one calf and my biggest moosebull but bouth is many years ago. I love the place.

I took this picture on the way out to the post millarya. Its my two absolut favorit knifes for moosehunt. Its the mora 2000 and a brusletto. The brosletto is called Norgekniven and has a handle from birch. Bouth has sandvik 12c27 as steel and simular hardness around 58 hrc. I consider the mora to be the best user but I like the brusletto the best. Bouth of them has a gard for the finger witch is good when its cold and the fingers are slippery from blood or fat. I got the mora around the milleniumscift and the Brusletto is from 2006 when I got 40. bouth is gifts from my cousin Anders. The day I took the picture we were hunting together and the day ended with him shooting a calf.

That's a beautiful kasa Bosse, made all the more wonderful since it was made by your father.

Christian, There is a halfdone kåsa hanging in my workshop. Its roughly shaped from curly Masur birch. Its checked so it wont crack from hot beverages. As soon the huntingseason is over i do the last cutting. After that Its heading your way.

Lovely entry complete with pictures and I really enjoy looking at northern hemisphere simple outdoor hunting pleasures including your bolt rifle with schnabel ('bird's beak' in German) forend. Would this would be a 6.5 x 55 Swede, one of the finest hunting/military cartridges ever made?
English is a very strange language. Convention would have plural of 'knife' being 'knifes' and plural of 'moose' being 'meese' (goose vs geese/mouse vs mice) but it isn't. I may have a hole/tear in my pant leg and will have to buy a new 'pair of pants'. But buying a single pant cannot be done!
Thank you and all the very best.

Is this a lefty rifle or was the picture swapped? Lefty bolts are not, and never have been, a dime a dozen but well worth the effort if you happen to be 'not right-handed'. The American sniper featured in the bell tower towards the end of 'Saving Private Ryan' is a lefty that is adept at operating a right-handed bolt gun.

Good guess. That fine rifle is a Heym, chambered in 6.5x55mm.

It is refreshing to see a finely stocked firearm used for hunting. Too many people these days choose synthethic for its weatherproof quality. That's all well and good, but something is lost when you make decisions based on pure utility. Walnut might swell, but it is beautiful and warm to the touch. Using a rifle made of wood and blued steel is akin to using a stag handled GEC.

That rifle is a looker. Not bad considering her age. ;) Almost 30-years-old now, isn't she Bosse?
