Is the gray coated Drop Forged Bowie still pending or discontinued?
I'm not having any luck finding it in stock.
Did I miss an announcement?

That and other knives like the A-2 Trail Master, Natchez, Laredo and Recon Scout with satin finish are still in limbo. In another thread when I asked about their arrival I was told they will get here when they get here!

Thanks for the reply.
One site I visited listed it as discontinued so it made me wonder.
I'm considering the satin RS also.
Hopefully they will roll out soon.

I hate to hear that.
It was an underappreciated model in my opinion. Great design.
I've got the original version but I was looking forward to the new coated one.
Was it ever released at all?

The Drop Forged Bowie is discontinued, the closeout on it was during our last few sales.
You're talking about the silver colored version #36MD? Tenbeers and me are still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the dark grey model #36MI. It is still listed as a pre-order item by some vendors!

Of all the drop forged knives it is and was my personal favorite. The product description says that it was based on a knife in Lynn's personal collection (made by an Arkansas-based custom knife maker). If I had to guess who this Arkansas-based custom knife maker was I would say Jerry Fisk!

You and me both. It is a sad day indeed. It is the perfect carry knife and felt great in the hand. It remains my personal favorite of all the drop forged knife line up!!!

Originally 36MD, was to be replaced with 36Ml if I'm not mistaken.

Man With No Name mentioned Jerry Fisk as a possible influence on the design and that may well be the case.
My memory goes back to an issue of Fighting Knives from the 1990's.
There was an article on knifemaker John M. Smith's Inner-City Bowie knife.
It was designed to be a more concealable Bowie style fighter in a similar vein as some of Bill Bagwell's Bowies.
The idea was very appealing to me at the time. I couldn't part with the funds then but I kept the concept in mind thereafter. When I saw the first images of the Drop Forged Bowie I felt I'd found what I'd been looking for and I wasn't disappointed the first time I held it.
This isn't the first time that I felt like Lynn Thompson was reading my mind, even if it took a few decades!;)

I definitely see the similarities between the mentioned Fisk and Smith’s bowies compared to the CS drop forged bowie.

Did any other knife from Drop Forged line-up get discontinued?

I have dark gray finish Hunter model and it's awesome.
