Yeah, I think I'm going to give the TerraLUX LEDs a try. they seem to have pretty good reviews.

Drop-In LEDs for Maglites?

Well, I received the terralux LED for my 2D maglite last night. I'm pretty happy with it. A rough estimate would be 20% brighter. It's a whiter light but not as white as I thought it would be. Very nice actually. The beam seems smoother with less artifacts throughout the focus as well.
I still prefer a lot of my other AA, AAA, and CR123 lights but this terralux really updates the Maglite nicely.
