Drop Loop Sheath for a Don Hanson FB

Looks a little slow around here with a lot of people at Blade so thought I would post the first of 2 sheaths I'm making for this very nice ivory handled Don Hanson, next will be a pouch style for it. Sorry I didn't take a photo of the knife!!
Front panel is pigskin lined with roll top, leather braided lacing (still a little damp) with wood beads....was going to make an ivory slider but none of the ivory I have matches the handle color, back panel has a 2 oz. calf overlay.

Hey Dave!

I just want to say that I think your sheath is an amazing piece of fuctional art!!!
I am "just" a collector / rookie-knifemaker myself, and I think alot about how on earth I´m going to learn to make my own leather sheaths..
I´m not sure if I´m getting inspired or depressed when I see what a maker at your level can do
Seriously, off course this is a source for inpiration - but also a reminder that things won´t get done by themselves, over night!

I dont usuallly like a lot of embellishments on a sheath,but wow,thats one of ther nicest sheaths i have ever seen!

That is a fine looking and styled sheath Dave!!
I used to do a lot of basket weave on my sheaths but nothing as crisp and clean as you've done on this one!
I love the way you brought the loop over and used the braided lacing!

Are you hand stitching or have you moved to a machine?

Texas Slim, I'm hand stitching but would like to have a machine for smaller more intricate stitching. If you're interested I'll explain the technique I use, started making my stitch holes a little differently lately and makes it a whole lot easier.
