In the final stages of finishing these 2 up. Both are made from 15n20 steel and 8" OAL with a 4" blade. The top one has Micarta scales, and the bottom one has dyed maple. Any comments and critiques are appreciated.

I appologize for the extremely crappy cell phone pics. I hope to get some decent ones soon.

Need some better pics! I cant really see any details , makes critiquing difficult if not impossible. The overall design is about all I can comment on. Proportions look good.

I like them a lot. They both beg to be used and look as though they could be very functional. If these are your firsts then more power to you. If these are your fiftieth and fifty-first then I's say you can probably finish them up a little better but it's hard to tell from the pics. The only thing I would change, and this is just my opinion, is to make the ricaso a little smaller, especially on the second one.

I like lanyard tunnels on my bush knives. Some don't. When I'm working around water, I want the option.

I appreciate it, guys. Yeah, one of my projects for this weekend is going to be cobbling together some sort of light box to get some decent pics. Need to figure out why my camera isn't working too, or at least wait until my wife isn't paying attention and use her's.

Unfortunately, these aren't my first but they're not quite my fiftyith either. I know finish work is one area I need to temper my ADD and force myself to spend more time.

Here are some slightly better pics. Still need to tinker with my light box some, but it's still much better than my cell phone.

Pins a little messy is about the only fit and finish negative thing catching my eye. Did the drill knock out a little more than you wanted it to? can put a piece of scrap wood under what you're drilling on the press to keep it from punching out the other side.

Hey Jonathan , pictures look much better. Makes me sad I couldnt make the NC guild meeting this time and see the picture taking demo.

I agree. The basic designs are sound, but if you bring the edge back as close to the handle as possible, it makes the knife even more handy. That's where th best leverage and control is for whittling, carving, peeling apples, etc.

Thanks a ton everyone, the comments are very helpful. The drill did tear out on me a little. I was being cheap and trying to get by on a burnt up bit. I see what you mean about moving the edge back, James. Makes a ton of sense.

Unfortunately I missed that one too, that would have been very helpful for me. Of course, I think I've missed all of them for the past year. Just too many things going on right now.
